Kure Beach and The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher

On July 27th and 28th we took a trip out to the coast. We went to Kure Beach the first day. We were all very excited to get out and play in the ocean. We had a blast! The waves were perfect for boogie boarding and just splashing around. They were strong enough to knock even me and Blake over! The kids had a great time. They loved playing on the boogie boards, especially the boys. The day was somewhat overcast with the sun shining through occasionally, but that's just the east coast for you. We don't have the same bright, sunny, blue sky days here that we had in Utah. I definitely miss that. You can tell in the pictures though that it looks overcast. It didn't matter to us, it was still plenty hot, especially when the sun would come out. When we were done playing at the beach we stopped and ate dinner at Chick-fil-a. We love that place! One of the things we definitely like about North Carolina is that they Chick-fil-a's all over, and not just in the malls! Bummer we're on a budget now or we'd probably be there more often.

Gage boogie boarding....

Max could not get used to the idea of sand in his shorts, I mean who really can?? Here he is trying to squat into the water hoping some of it would get washed away. He had handfuls in the pockets of his shorts weighing him down so we did manage to get that out and then turned his pockets inside out which definitely helped. Every so often though I would see him trying to get the sand out. The other two kiddos didn't seem to mind at all.

Eliza constantly had spit on her chin from trying to spit out the salt water. Makes for nice pictures, huh?!

The boys having a blast together splashing around....

Blake and Lize trying to pull each other around on the boogie board. Well Eliza was trying....

Getting buried in the sand....
Blake tried to give Lize a kiss since she couldn't push him away like she usually does and she turned away and spit his kiss off. He thought it was pretty funny!
Blake told Eliza that she looked like a churro after getting buried in the sand which I thought was funny because she totally did look like one! She thought she looked like one too.

After Gage saw all of the burying fun he wanted to get buried too. If you look closely Blake gave Gage some cones. Gage was cracking up about this as he was protesting it. Can you tell where our boys get their humor from?

Like father,
Like son....they both ended up taking naps on the beach.
The next day we went to the aquarium before heading home. It was a nice aquarium. When we got there they were feeding the crocodiles and cleaning their tank at the same time. I definitely wouldn't want that job. The only thing keeping the crocs from the cleaners was a girl trying to keep their attention by giving them fish.

We all loved the seahorses. They are sooo cool looking!

Here Eliza is making a happy face and then a mad face while moving her hand in front of her face like Alex does in Madagascar. She does this all the time and we all laugh at her of course and think she is pretty cute when she does it.

Max LOVES turtles and always wants to take pictures of the turtles, with the turtles, whatever he can of turtles. We usually look for turtles right off whenever we go to an aquarium and then see them again before we go. He has been asking for a turtle, but we were told they are kind of hard to take care of. We told him he could have one when he is a teenager. So he figured it out right away that a teenager means thirteen and that it is five years away. He is such a good boy and never really complains about much, so he never threw a fit or anything that five years is so far away. He just keeps talking about when he is a teenager and gets to have a turtle. I'm sure he won't have to wait that long! That would just be mean!!
