Good News!

Blake and the kids bought me these flowers to say congratulations. I found out today that I get to be one of Dr. Rieker's two research assistants during our senior year. This is definitely good news for us because part of the deal is that I get my tuition paid for being one. - for the whole year! Blake was so excited by the news that he offered to buy the whole family Carowinds season passes to celebrate. You would never believe it, but the new frugal me declined the generous offer. Me decline an amusement park season pass!! I must be changing my spendy ways. I'm really excited for this research assistantship, I really think I will learn a lot from it. Plus, the whole tuition perk isn't half bad either.

Spring Time Fun

So we recently took up tennis and we love it. We play all the time! Blake and I were even joking that wherever we end up moving they'll have to have a tennis club that we can take lessons and play at. Haha, we'll see how long this trend lasts though. Even the kids are into it, both Gage and Max got their own tennis rackets in their Easter baskets this year. It's great ~ we get family time, exercise, and have FUN!





Usually after Eliza has played tennis with us for about five whole minutes, she's ready to play on the monkey bars. She has really been practicing getting all the way across and she can finally do it. Yay Lizey! She's so excited about it and wants us to watch her accomplish it over and over. Look at her proud little face.

Splashin' in the Pool....in April!!!

Can you believe we are already swimming and it's only the beginning of April?! We can't either, but the kids are absolutely loving it. Every day after school the kids ask Blake to take them to the pool. They can't get enough! The pool here is really nice because we've never once seen it crowded, even in the dead of summer. Eliza has gotten so great at swimming. She swims from edge to edge in the shallow and deep ends, she's doing awesome. I love the pictures of them with goggles on ~ those silly little faces.











Gage decided to take a break today I guess. Maybe it was because the neighbor girls were around, who knows. He is definitely his father's son though ~ always has a book in his hands.

We Love Spring

Our street is lined with blossom trees and looks really pretty. The weather has been amazing and the kids have been playing outside a lot. Today I caught the boys out in the tree shaking the limbs so when the blossoms fell it looked like snow. Eliza was twirling around so cutely in the falling blossoms. They were having such a good time together.

Max brought home a cabbage plant from school and decided to plant it here in this spot, right outside our front door.

Easter Morning

I was on call the night before Easter so when my shift was over I stopped by Krispy Kreme and picked up a treat for my sweet family. They love donuts!! When I got home it was still quite early in the morning so I hurried and hid the Easter eggs and assembled the kids baskets of goodies and didn't have to wait long for them to start waking up. They were so excited! I was worried that on our new budget they would be a little disappointed with their baskets this year because it wasn't nearly what they are used to. I was so pleasantly surprised and proud of them as well. No one even began to mention that their basket was a little "bare". They were all smiles and so grateful for what they had received. We really do have great kids!! I couldn't ask for any better. After looking through their baskets, we all went outside and had our egg hunt. I always love watching them run around excitedly looking for the eggs. I think I'll still make them do it even when they're all in their 20's I love it so much. Hopefully they'll cooperate!!

Easter Egg Hunt at Tanglewood Park

Our friend Christi told us about a free Easter egg hunt at Tanglewood Park this past weekend. So we went of course. We like any free entertainment these days. The only bummer is that we were a little bit rushed because I was on call that night and had to be at the hospital by 2:30 to start my shift. There were sooo many kids there, but luckily they broke up the kids by age group. The boys held their own and got plenty of eggs, but I had to jump in and scold a boy who was trying to steal my girlie's eggs after she tripped and spilled some out of her basket. How rude, right!? Right after that we turned around to find another little girl crying because she didn't get only single egg. I was so proud of Lize because she gave some of hers eggs to the little girl to make her feel better. The prizes inside ended up being REALLY random, like girl scout patches, but it was fine. It gave us all a good laugh at how random it was and besides that it was free. Who can complain when it's free!

Gage is so social. He loves to get in on any game he can.
