Our 1st trip to the Outer Banks

Our friends, the Crowther's, invited us to go to the Outer Banks with them this past weekend. The lady that they rent from has a condo in Kill Devil Hills and was letting them stay the weekend in it for free so they were kind enough to invite us along. It was sooo much fun!!! We had the best time! We went to Kitty Hawk where the Wright Brothers made their first flight, we played on the beaches of Kill Devil Hills and Corolla, we saw wild horses on the beach in Corolla and climbed to the top of the Currituck Lighthouse. The first day was a little chilly, but the kids didn't care, they splashed in the ocean anyways. Our last day was sunny and warm though. I wish we would have had time to stay longer, we were only there for three days. Hopefully, we'll make it back for another trip someday. Thanks Crowther's for inviting us along!!

As Lize got higher and higher up the stairs she started crawling up them because she was afraid that she would fall between the steps.

Gage has always been a little afraid of heights. He was a good sport and climbed to the top, but preferred not to come out on the walkway. In his defense it was very windy up there.

Winston-Salem Dash Baseball Game

Laura, one of my classmates, got some people from class together for a Dash baseball game. It was so fun and she even got us a great deal. We got a group rate plus free hats, can't beat that! The kids were sooo excited about getting hats. This was our first sporting event here in Winston-Salem and I have a feeling there will be more, the kids loved it. It was nice because the boys like baseball and are old enough now that they actually like watching the game, they didn't keep asking if it was time to leave yet. The only funny part was that we paid a couple of extra dollars for seats rather than the grass and when we got there they were bummed we weren't sitting on the grass. Go figure!! Luckily we were right next to the grass and they were able to watch from there.

Gage is always on the ready for an opportunity to get an autograph or catch a fly ball.



Running the bases at the end of the game is one of the kids favorite things to do at a baseball game. They always liked to do it when we went to the SLC Bees games as well.

Paper Airplanes

Tonight at scouts the boys made paper airplanes. The cubmaster, Fred, did a great job putting it together. He brought paper in various shapes and sizes and printed out instructions on how to make several different types of paper airplanes. All of the boys really got into this project. After they were done making their planes they took them outside to see who's would fly the furthest. The had such a great time and had many good laughs!

Good News!

Blake and the kids bought me these flowers to say congratulations. I found out today that I get to be one of Dr. Rieker's two research assistants during our senior year. This is definitely good news for us because part of the deal is that I get my tuition paid for being one. - for the whole year! Blake was so excited by the news that he offered to buy the whole family Carowinds season passes to celebrate. You would never believe it, but the new frugal me declined the generous offer. Me decline an amusement park season pass!! I must be changing my spendy ways. I'm really excited for this research assistantship, I really think I will learn a lot from it. Plus, the whole tuition perk isn't half bad either.

Spring Time Fun

So we recently took up tennis and we love it. We play all the time! Blake and I were even joking that wherever we end up moving they'll have to have a tennis club that we can take lessons and play at. Haha, we'll see how long this trend lasts though. Even the kids are into it, both Gage and Max got their own tennis rackets in their Easter baskets this year. It's great ~ we get family time, exercise, and have FUN!





Usually after Eliza has played tennis with us for about five whole minutes, she's ready to play on the monkey bars. She has really been practicing getting all the way across and she can finally do it. Yay Lizey! She's so excited about it and wants us to watch her accomplish it over and over. Look at her proud little face.
